Paul Konchesky
Kocnchesky made his first appearance for Charlton in 1997 at the age of only 16 years old. He spent six years at Charlton and established himself as a fine left back as his tenure at the club progressed. During his six year spell at Charlton, he played for the England under 21s. In July 2005, the player moved from Charlton to West Ham for £1.5 million and soon made a huge impact. His great play earned him a call up to the England squad. He scored for West Ham in the 2006 FA Cup final against Liverpool.
Dean Kiely
Kiely started his career off in goal playing for Coventry and Ipswich; however he failed to make the grade in the first teams at the respective clubs. Kiely’s career really took off in 1990 as he took charge in goal for York City, going on to appear on more than 225 occasions for the club. His consistency in goal earned him a move to Bury in 1996 and he made a real name for himself at the club. His reliable displays for Bury earned him a move to Charlton and he soon established himself as the Addicks number one goal keeper and was outstanding in goal stopping many premiership opposition. He spent six years with Charlton, recording nearly 250 appearances at the club. At the start of the year 2006 he signed for Portsmouth FC.
Claus Jensen
After enjoying spells playing for several Danish football clubs, Jensen moved on to play for Bolton wanderers in 1998 and soon became a permanent fixture in the squad. His good play earned the star a move to Charlton Athletic in the year 2000 and he was outstanding in his midfield position at the club. Jensen’s great play in England earned him a place in the Denmark team for the 2002 world cup finals and Euro 2004. He made nearly 150 appearances for Charlton, scoring 20 goals for the club. In the year 2004, Jensen moved from Charlton to Fulham for £1.25 million.
Darren Bent
Bent came through the ranks of Ipswich Town and made his debut for the club in 2002 and soon established himself in the starting line up. He made a real name for himself at Ipswich during the 2004-05 season, finishing it off as the clubs top goal scorer, netting in 19 goals. His great play earned him a move to Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2005 and during his debut season, he went on to score a bag of goals for the premiership outfit. He ended the season as the second top goal scorer in the premier league with a prolific 21 goals. His great play up front earned him international recognition representing the England national side.
Luke Young
Young started his career off playing at White Hart Lane for Spurs in 1997. He was viewed as a reliable centre back that went on to make over 50 appearances for the club during his 4 years stay. In the summer of 2001, Charlton purchased the player for £4 million and he starred in a Charlton defence consisting of Mark Fish, Jorge Costa and Jon Fortune. He was voted as the player of the year at Charlton for the 2004-05 season and his great play earned the player a call up to the England side. He has now made seven appearances for his nation and has played over 175 times for the Addicks. |
