Kevin Lisbie
Lisbie made his professional debut for the Addicks during the 1996-97 season at the age of 19 years old. It was not until the following season that he established himself in the side and soon became a fans favourite. He is an English born Jamaican football player who has now spent his entire playing career with Charlton and has represented the Jamaican national football team. He is regarded as powerful forward who has a knack of scoring crucial goals at the club.
Clive Mendonca
Mendonaca started his playing career at Sheffield United and then Doncaster Rovers. It was not until his time playing for Rotherham where he made a real impression. He was prolific in front of goal for Rotherham, scoring over 30 goals in 85 appearances at the club. He then moved on to play for Grimsby Town, scoring over 60 goals for the club. His good play earned him a move to Charlton in the summer of 1997 and he proved to be money well spent. He scored an incredible hat trick in the 1997-98 playoff final against Sunderland which in turn earned the club promotion to the top flight. He was prolific in front of goal for the addicks, scoring a staggering 40 league goals in 84 league matches, averaging nearly a goal every other match.
David Whyte
Whyte commenced his playing career with Crystal Palace in the year 1989 and his fine displays for the club earned him a permanent move to Charlton Athletic in 1994 and he soon became a popular figure at the club. He was prolific in front of goal during his time at the Valley and after 4 blistering years, he spent his final playing days at Southend United.
John Robinson
Robinson started off his career playing for Brighton in 1989 and he soon established himself as a tricky winger. After three years at the club, he signed for Charlton Athletic in 1992 and soon established him self in the starting line up. His great play earned him a call up to the Wales under 21 set up and he soon established himself in to the Wales senior squad, making his debut for his nation in 1995. In total, Robinson played in over 375 matches for the addicks and is one of the clubs all time legends. He is arguably one of the greatest ever midfielders of Charlton Athletic. |
